Ambassador Profile

Hello future Vols! My name is Ashlyn Kozlowski and I am a senior majoring in Aerospace Engineering here at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I am a Tennessee native, originally from Memphis, but have been loving my new home on the East side of the state. Some of my hobbies include going to the gym, cooking (especially baking), and just about any kind of shopping.

Prior to starting my first year at UT in 2019, I had toured multiple schools and felt uneasy about making the decision of where I would spend the next four years. As a first-generation college student, it was especially daunting to make sure I was finding a community that would support me through the process of continuing my education. It wasn’t until I came to UT and decided to hop onto an engineering tour that I really felt like I had found my place. My family and I were taken around the Engineering campus and we saw just how much pride the tour guides had for the school and it’s programs. Multiple resources were pointed out for assisting student in the college transition and the University truly seemed dedicated to their students’ successes. Four years later, I can now say that the opinions I made that day still stand and have been further strengthened by the constant support of the faculty, staff, and peers that surround me here at the Tickle College of Engineering.

On campus I am a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honor Society), UT LEAD (First Generation), Tri Alpha (First Generation Honor Society), and I am also a peer tutor for the Student Success Center. Additionally, I am on the 5 year BS/MS track and will be pursuing a Masters in Mechanical Engineering in the year following my Bachelors of Aerospace Engineering. The five year program condenses the length of a typical Masters program and is an amazing opportunity for those who are interested in furthering their education post-grad. This opportunity is one I highly recommend so please feel free to reach out with any questions!

So far, I have held two summer internships with FedEx Express in Memphis, Tennessee. My first summer I worked as an aircraft systems engineering intern and an aircraft structures engineering intern the second. Additionally, I was given the opportunity to perform undergraduate research my sophomore year where a team and I produced and researched additively manufactured 17-4 stainless steel. Each of these experiences have been incredibly valuable to me and wouldn’t have been possible without the resources provided by the University. I am always open to questions regarding any of these positions so please do not hesitate to reach out!

College is a big transition, but one full of amazing opportunities. I hope that each of you is able to find a home like the one I found here at UT, I truly cannot imagine myself anywhere else. Welcome to Rocky Top and as always, go Vols!
