Greetings prospective students! We hope that UT adds another family member in you!
My name is Austin Taylor and I am from Memphis TN! My major is mechanical engineering with dual minors in biomedical Engineering along with reliability and maintainability engineering. During childhood, my favorite subjects were math and science and I frequently watched interesting media like How It’s Made or Discovery Channel. Solving problems and making things better is an engineer's duty to the world. It’s the major that offers a direct impact on people’s lives without a lot of fuss about it. As time goes along, you’ve started to sleep more and more in Hodges.
Around campus, I am involved with many facets. I serve as a Resident Assistant in Massey Hall. I also serve as a student recruiter for ME4UT (Minority Enhancement for University of Tennessee & the Athletics Department). Also, I am involved with NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers), continuing to try to pass the torch and harness culture of a good leader. Outside of work and school, I like to hang with my friends and do cool things! We go hiking, try new foods, and everything else we can think of.
The university has put me in a lot of positions to succeed. Whether it be bringing Fortune 500 companies to Knoxville for the engineering expo, to offering a 24-hour Chick Fil A, the university has always tried to look after his students. As a student at UT, one will meet people from all over the world with completely different facts of life. Engineering taught me how to deal with people with different walks of life and how to accept their qualities. Knoxville can be a melting pot of culture and creeds alike!
Please, do not hesitate to send me emails pertaining to the Tickle College of Engineering or the college experience in general. Thank you for visiting the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Go Vols!
