Bella Malone

Ambassador Profile

Hi future Vols!!

My name is Bella Malone and I am so excited to serve as a Tickle College of Engineering Ambassador for a second year! I am in my fourth year studying Industrial and Systems Engineering with a double minor in Reliability and Maintainability as well as Business Administration. My hometown is Memphis, TN, and although I am a proud Memphian (#choose901), I have loved my time here at UTK for the past four years!

I decided to come to UTK because of the pre-college programs HITES12 (High School Introduction to Engineering Systems for Twelfth Graders) and the equivalent of the SEA (Summer Engineering Advancement) program, and I'm so thankful for them both. Those programs got me acclimated to campus and connected to resources so that I could hit the ground running when I finally started in the fall of 2018. They also initiated my passion for Industrial and Systems Engineering because I had never heard of that engineering major prior to those pre-college events.

While here, I have been very involved in a variety of professional, social, and leadership opportunities and have been able to grow so much due to the College of Engineering and campus as a whole. One of my main areas of involvement has been the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers as this organization quickly became my "familia" away from home. I am honored to be able to serve as SHPE's President for the 2021-2022 school year. I also am of course involved as a Tickle College of Engineering Ambassador and also as an Engineering Professional Practice Office Ambassador. Both of these have helped me grow exponentially as a leader and see how much TCE has to offer. Finally, I have previously worked as a Resident Assistant in the ENGAGE Living Learning Community as well as in Massey this year which is one of the best on campus jobs by far.

Professionally, I worked with the Engineering Professional Practice Office to find my dream co-op and I found it at the Engineering Expo with FedEx Supply Chain! I've completed a summer internship, fall co-op, and summer co-op rotation with them and will be returning next summer. Over my three rotations with them, I have worked within the Field Engineering Department on continuous improvement initiatives that range from 5S to facility layout. I cannot recommend co-oping enough as well as the Pro Practice Office to find the perfect work assignment for you!

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and I hope you learned some about me! Please contact me if you have any questions about any of the programs I've been involved in. I would love to help!
