Ambassador Profile

Hey, friend! I’m Charles, a Junior in Computer Science. I’m so glad you’re here!

Growing up in Knoxville, I was sure in high school that I wanted to leave town for college. “ANYWHERE except UT,” I told myself; I sure was wrong! Turns out, fate had other plans, and I couldn’t be happier it did. This campus is a special place; the people here have grown and nurtured me and I’ve been blessed to call it home.

I’ve enjoyed the technical challenges of my major, including rigorous coursework taught by truly inspirational faculty. I’ve especially enjoyed my honors classes, which dive a little deeper and give a more holistic understanding of the subject material. The opportunity to intern at a Knoxville-based software company, as well, added tremendously to my undergraduate experience by training me in real-life situations. The college has not only supplied endless opportunities but supported me throughout each.

On campus, I serve on both government relations and information technology student government committees, which allow me to work with legislators, administrators, faculty, and other students to make our university a better place. Last year, I was selected as a Leadership Knoxville Scholar, a campus program working to develop student leaders on campus into community leaders in East TN in partnership with our city’s leadership program. In addition, I’m excited to be adding minors in both Communication Studies and Cybersecurity, while still on-track to graduate in eight semesters. Here on Rocky Top, our engineering students have many opportunities to get involved in other parts of campus!

Thanks for getting to know me; now I’d love to get to know you! You’re welcome to email me at the address listed above with any questions or, even better, schedule a tour with our office. Hope to see you soon, and GO VOLS!
