Ambassador Profile

Hey future engineering Vols!

My name is Eduardo Diaz, and I am thrilled to serve as an Ambassador for the Tickle College of Engineering this year! I am currently in my fourth year studying Industrial Engineering with a double minor in Engineering Management and Economics. Having grown up right here in Knoxville, I have been able to visit the University of Tennessee events for as long as I can remember and to the campus!

I decided to attend UT because of the campus tour I took during high school and because of how much greenery is all around campus! Through that tour I was able to learn about engineers day at UT and learn about how the Tickle College of Engineering can provide programs to enrich my education through a variety of resources. Engineers day at UT was also where I first learned about Industrial Engineering and have been captivated ever since! The summer before starting college, I was able to partake in the pre-college Multicultural Engineering Program where I learned more about college level workloads and expectations. In this program provided by UT I was able to become accustomed to resources available to students throughout campus for me to utilize to succeed in my classes and career!

At UT, I have had the opportunity to be involved in a variety of organizations across campus ranging from hobbies, career development, to major focused! Most of my involvement would be through the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers as the current Vice President External on the Executive Board. I have made great friends and mentors in this organization who have helped me on my journey throughout college. In addition, I am also an Engineering Ambassador this year with a focus on Outreach!

Professionally, I have been able to fill the roles of a Research Scholar in 2021 as well as an Operations Engineer Intern in 2022! My Research Scholar experience came from a TCE mentor telling me about a summer research program out of Pennsylvania State University which was really awesome! And my second experience came from the engineering expo that the Tickle College of Engineering puts on for students. Through this, I was able to work for Signal Energy this summer in California!

Thanks for taking the time to read through my profile! If you have any questions at all regarding the University of Tennessee – Knoxville or the Tickle College of Engineering don’t hesitate to ask! Go Vols!
