Hello, future engineering Vols!
My name is Emma Poindexter, and I am a junior majoring in civil engineering with planned concentrations in structures and construction. I was raised in Knoxville, so I have always been a Vol! When it came time to decide where to pursue a degree, UT was the obvious and the best choice for me. I came into college not knowing what to major in but quickly realized after my first year that engineering was a great fit. I then decided on civil engineering my sophomore year and could not imagine taking another path!
I am currently serving as the president of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), a member of the 2024 cohort for the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program (IBEP), and am involved with Greek life on campus. After attending UT’s Engineering Expo my sophomore year, I landed my first internship with a general contractor. I interned with Signal Energy where I worked specifically in the renewable energy industry on a construction site.
I have loved my time so far at UT, and I know you will too!
