Ambassador Profile
Hi everyone! My name is Kelli Determan and I am a senior in Electrical Engineering from Belleville, IL. After college, I have accepted a full-time position as a plant engineer at Eastman Chemical Co. in Kingsport, TN. My favorite thing about the Tickle College of Engineering is the support they provide for students. From the Office of Professional Practice to various clubs for different majors, this college does its absolute best to meet student's needs in every way.
This past summer, I was able to intern at Eastman in their coal gas division. I worked on multiple projects that added real value to the company. Through this experience, I learned so much about the manufacturing processes that go on at Eastman and what it takes to keep these processes running. Before this, I had the opportunity to be a co-op student at Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC where I worked for two terms. Here, I worked in their Transmission Substation group, where I worked on various design projects for the team. I learned lots about the overall utility industry and many skills that will be useful in my upcoming classes! I would recommend an internship or co-op to any student interested, and I would love to answer any questions you have about the process!
Aside from being a TCE Ambassador, I am also involved with the Honors Leadership program as the Service Committee Chair, I play women's club volleyball for UT, and I am a founding member for a STEM sorority chapter at UT called Alpha Omega Epsilon. Outside of school I enjoy traveling, attending UT sporting events, and would consider myself a food enthusiast. Fun fact: when I do travel, I collect magnets from every state/country that I go to (usually from airports)! Tennessee, so far, is the best place I have been, and I hope I can share with prospective students how much this university has impacted me. As always, go Vols!
