Ambassador Profile

Hi everyone and welcome to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville!

My name is Leah Stephens and I am a senior, majoring in Civil Engineering with a minor in Business Administration. I’m so excited that you are interested in the College of Engineering here at UT!

I am from Lake Worth, Florida, so I came a long way to attend this wonderful school. As you can imagine, I was a bit nervous about coming to a school where I did not know anyone. However, the University of Tennessee has really become another home for me, thanks to all the kind students, professors, and local residents. One day, I hope you too can imagine this as your home!

You will hear me, and the other ambassadors, constantly talking about the opportunities available to students here. That’s because there are so many! The fact that I can pursue a range of interests here is one of the main reasons I decided to attend UT. I am involved with the Student Government Association (SGA) and I was on the Student Homecoming Committee, where I had the pleasure of working as the photographer for them. I am also a member of Sigma Kappa, a sorority that pushes me to strive for academic excellence and gain leadership experience.

I am involved with undergraduate research in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, specifically looking at Engineered Soil Fabrics-Pore Fluid Chemistry and Mineral Mixtures. I was given this opportunity by the RISER Program, which works to increase the retention of women honors students. Finally, I am involved in the Engineering Honors Program and I would love to answer any questions you may have about Honors!

The University of Tennessee is the perfect school for me and I hope it will be for you too! Please schedule a tour so I can show you all that the University of Tennessee has to offer. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, or if you just want to talk more about UT.

Go Vols!
