Ambassador Profile

Hi, future Vols! My name is Mollie Daniell and I am a senior majoring in materials science & engineering here at UT. I was born and raised in a small town in southwest Arkansas named Arkadelphia. When I was choosing a college, I knew I wanted a bigger school that would make me branch out and grow on my own. I definitely found that here! On my tour, I fell in love with campus and could really picture my life here on Rocky Top. Everyone was so welcoming and kind, and I just knew that this would be my home away from home!

When I first got on campus, I was quickly exposed to all the awesome opportunities UT (especially the Tickle College of Engineering) has to offer. I participated in the Society of Women Engineers mentorship program where I received invaluable guidance from an upperclassman in my major. I also am a member of Materials Advantage, which is an MSE club here on campus (and freshman get the first year of membership paid for!!!!). The summer after my freshman year, I even got to study abroad in Milan, Italy with a program through the Tickle College of Engineering.

After I got back from Milan, I did research in Rapid City, South Dakota at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, a position I never would have gotten without the help of one of my engineering professors at UT! Funding came from the U.S. Department of Justice, and I was researching new methods of latent fingerprint detection that could actually be put into practice one day! The experience I gained really broadened my idea of what MSE is and everything it encompasses.

I am so glad that you are interested in the Tickle College of Engineering! If you have any questions about UT or MSE, please feel free to reach out. I have truly found my home here and I hope you can too!
