Hello future engineering Vols!
My name is Paulina Urbanowicz and I am a senior majoring in industrial engineering and minoring in engineering management. I was born in Poland but grew up right down the road in Oak Ridge, TN. Being so close to campus I was able to attend many events in high school, and quickly fell in love with the campus. I couldn't wait to be on Rocky Top!
In my free time, I love spending time outside and enjoy hiking, walking, kayaking, rock climbing, and swimming! Having the Great Smoky Mountains close by makes it a great place to visit and make new memories. I enjoy seeing new places, going on adventures with friends, and of course attending UT football games (nothing beats being in Neyland on game day!!)
On campus I have had the chance to get involved with Society of Women Engineers, Women of Haslam, Chancellor’s Honors Program, Honors and Scholars Living and Learning Community, Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, Alpha Pi Mu, and ISE Ambassadors. In addition to my interests in engineering, I have always been interested in the business aspect, leading to my engagement with the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program. Through these various organizations, I have made some of my best friends here at UT.
During the summer of 2021, I interned with Kellogg in Jackson, TN in their Cracker Business Unit. Having the opportunity to work in industry was eye opening, and I gained an appreciation for manufacturing. This past summer (2022) I had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy through the ISE Department. The class I took was Applied Human Factors and Art, where we studied the various points of view on culture and art. Following my study abroad, I traveled to Poland to intern at Firestone Industrial Products as a part of the engineering team. By working with the team I learned about the processes in the plant and I assisted with time studies to eliminate waste in the system.
I have absolutely loved my time here at UT and am so excited that you are considering Rocky Top to be your home! UT has something to offer for everyone and you will find so many opportunities to grow as an individual.
