Virtual Lab Experience

Curious about what you will learn inside one of Engineering Fundamentals labs? Below you can check out an interactive lab, run through a lab simulation, or use video analysis software to solve an engineering problem.

Click on the links below and make sure to click on “Guest Access” to gain access to the lab modules.

Interactive Lab Form

Explore simple harmonic motion by observing experiments performed in the lab. You will then be able to enter measurements and perform calculations to compare your measured results to theory. Help is available to students via Zoom sessions with the lab Graduate Teaching Assistants or through the Discussion Board if they don’t understand something.

Lab Simulations

Engineers use simulations to learn and test concepts. An example of one of the simulations our students use to learn these concepts is this Center of Mass simulation. You can play a three minute “game” to estimate where the center of mass is for different situations. Students are challenged to beat the score of the class mascot, LazyDog.

Video Analysis Software

Engineers use video analysis software to gain a deeper understanding of engineering applications. This basic tool can be used for a wide range of problems including how to plot the motion of an object. In order to complete the simulation, you will need to download Tracker and watch this short tutorial to learn how to use the software.
