Ambassador Profile

Hey Future Vols!

My name is Ava Wallace, and I am a junior majoring in biomedical engineering. I am also a member of the Chancellors Honors program. I am so excited to serve as an Engineering Ambassador!

I grew up in a small town an hour north of Chicago, about nine hours away from Knoxville. I am involved with many of the amazing organizations offered at UT like the Pride of the Southland Marching Band, Football and Basketball Pep Bands, and even our rock climbing club. If I’m not doing any of those things you can find me watching a movie or doing something outdoors!

While I have always been very interested in the medical field, I was not always very interested in engineering. When Covid hit and the whole world flipped upside down, I still had no idea what I wanted to do. I watched the medical field struggle through the crisis and decided I wanted to use my skills to help. I had always been good at problem solving and STEM, but it wasn’t until I googled biomedical engineering that I knew this was the field for me.

When I started looking at colleges, I actually didn’t even have the University of Tennessee on my radar. My mom saw a picture of the gorgeous campus and convinced me to visit for a tour. I don’t think I had made it into the student union before I fell in love with campus. Every corner of campus we turned made me feel more and more that this was the place for me.

I’ve loved every single moment of my first two years here, and I’m so grateful to call Tennessee and TCE home sweet home. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out! I can’t wait to see you on Rocky Top!
