Ambassador Profile

Hi future Vols!

My name is Cameron Castleberry, and I am a senior majoring in Aerospace Engineering!

I am from a very small town just north of Knoxville––Jacksboro, TN. There wasn't much to do in my town besides enjoy the outdoors and play sports, so I grew up hiking, biking, going to the lake with friends, and playing several sports. My childhood love of sports has carried over into my adulthood, and I am an avid Tennessee sports fan. You might catch me in the front row at just about any sporting event!

As well as being an Ambassador, I enjoy taking part in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Society of Women Engineers, and The Walk Host Team.

I have completed one year of undergraduate research with the MABE Department, focusing on the imaging and analysis of 3D printed composite materials. These materials will be used in the next generations of air and spacecraft, so it is important that we minimize crack propagation and maximize thermal capabilities. I also did a summer internship in the high-speed original research and innovation group (HORIZON) at the University of Tennessee Space Institute!

In addition to research, another great engineering experience I have had is participating in the Engineering in London program! It was one of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences of my life. We took Circuits and Thermodynamics, got to see some of the earliest engineering feats, and traveled to several countries! It is an experience I will never forget and would recommend to everyone.

Being from Tennessee, like most students when they are looking at colleges, I wanted to go out-of-state. It was by crazy circumstances that I ended up at UT, but I am so grateful I did and have loved every minute of my time here so far! Specifically, the engineering college has allowed me to excel in my studies, grow as a person, and meet new friends within this large university.

I also have amazing mentors and professors that have supported me thus far. UT and the city of Knoxville have so many opportunities to help you make the most of your college years and prepare you for a bright future. I am excited to finish my degree and graduate in May, but I will miss the time I’ve had here.

I hope to see you on Rocky Top, and feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns! I am always happy to help!

GO VOLS!
