Ambassador Profile

Hi Future Vols!

My name is Rachel Ivy, and I lived in both Texas and Virginia prior to moving to a small farm in Campbellsville, Tennessee. I am currently a Biomedical Engineering Major on the Pre-med track. I chose to be an engineer because I loved math/science and wanted to use my passion to help make a difference in the medical world. I am the vice president of the Biomedical Engineering Society and also the public relations manager of Engineers in Medicine. I work as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Engineered Designs in Biomedicine lab working on a novel drug delivery method for pediatric brain cancer. I also got the chance to work as a researcher at MD Anderson Cancer Research Center this summer working on improving radiation treatment plans for brain cancer. I also have the opportunity to volunteer at UT Medical Center and Fort Sanders.

All of these activities have provided me with additional experience and helped me to solidify my views on what I want to do with my future. In addition, I made a lot of friends along the way!!

If I had to choose my favorite thing about the Tickle College of Engineering, it would be the support that the school has provided as I’ve made this journey. The Engineering Fundamentals classes offer special tutoring to aid you as you take your challenging first year classes. Many classes offer both teacher and TA office hours to help answer any questions about the material. Through my classes and the Engage LLC, I have met many friends who have become great resources as I tackle challenging material.

I am very grateful to go to such a wonderful college, and hope to see you soon on Rocky Top :).
